I'm the one that's livin' lavish like I'm playin' for the Mavericks....
March Madness is upon us and we are now in the Sweet 16.
In honor of the men's and women's NCAA Tournaments, Kick The Concrete has created our own bracket challenge: What is the best song by an athlete?
For our Big Dance celebration, in partnership with Aktiv8d, we made a 32-song bracket featuring athlete-artists from boxing, baseball, basketball, football, soccer and Formula 1.
The tournament is being played out on Instagram, where you can vote for your favorite songs through April 7 when a winning song will be crowned.
In the first round, we had some blowouts as you had some clear favorites. Memphis Depay's "No Love" got one hundred percent of the votes over Iman Shumpert's "Critical." Team LH came through strong for Lewis Hamilton, pushing the F1 champion easily through to the Sweet 16 with his guest appearance on Christina Aguilera's "Pipe" over GELO's latest single, "Can You Please."
There was also an upset where Aaron Gordon's "Pull Up" beat out Shedeur Sanders' "Perfect Timing" in a battle of Colorado athletes. But not all is lost for the football stars as the quarterback's legendary father, Deion Sanders won his matchup over GELO's "Tweaker." He joins Ray-Ray McCloud III and Duke Riley in the second round.
Listen to the contenders battling for the title on Spotify, including tracks from Damian Lillard, Roy Jones Jr., Flau'jae, Duke Riley, Lewis Hamilton, Jose Iglesias, Deion Sanders and Memphis Depay.
Since Allen Iverson's "40 Bars" and Clint Dempsey's "Don't Tread" are not on streaming services, listen to them here.
Hopefully you'll enjoy some well-known bangers and discover something new!
